  6. angela says:

i want to be an animator but for now, i’m stucked with my course creating codes for databases… is there a way i can pursue my dream?

    • gilbertconcepcion says:

Of course! To be honest, I studied education on college but I ended up being a freelance animator for games.I researched animation on the web and found tons of tutorials to help me to learn. My friend, the only moment that you will not have the chance to pursue your dream is when you are discouraged to pursue your dream. An artist is always an artist, it is not bounded by age.:-)You know, if you know a programming language, you can create programs for games and use your own animations for assets and sprites. I hope that this helps. Thanks Angela.

      • angela says:

thanks.. it really helps… maybe i just need encouragement and of course, practice… btw, your post is really helpful, i saved some links for future reference.. 🙂 thanks a lot ♥

Hi! By any chance, do you have any idea if Cutting Edge or Philippine Animation Studio Inc. are currently hiring applicants? Or at least willing to accept trainees in their companies? hmm.. thanks a lot..

  11. kris says:

good-day! I’m Kris, and I just graduated last year, I’m a Fine arts painting major and have always been interested in animation but admittedly, I still need training. I see animation as an effective arts and challenging, since it has the advantage of motion, things that painting lacks, either ways both are fine. I consider myself as a beginner, and a late comer when it comes to digital technology and imagery, since i focused myself on traditional arts, and also my academical backgrounds are those of studio artist. is there still a traditional animation (2d hand drawn) studios that i can work on? or are there any studios that hires beginners or trainee? I really do love animation, and works of winsor mckay and norman maclaren still inspires me to pursue an animation career.

    • Khaye24 says:

Hi if you want to enhance your skill in animation, we have multimedia arts course where you can study digital animation and basic motion graphics. You will learn also traditional and flash animation in this course. inquire with us at 898-2724 and look for me khaye or email me at keizleanne@firstacademy.net

      • kris says:

yeah, i still call the school for some inquiry, especially when i think my budget is at least half the fee in the school. that way i have the courage to inquire cause i have half the money to ask (you know how poor people are). but last time i called, i think the latter parts of last year. a person answered and after some further conversations about some of my queries i ask about accreditation because i think i don’t need to take up all the subjects because some of them i already taken up in my University (Illustrations, compositions, anatomy) she refers me or rather connects me to a personnel who can answer my questions. i waited for some long background music on the other line and when a person answers, before i could utter my first word she drops the phone, (or maybe slammed it, its loud)it is so rude, it hurts me. I felt insulted and humiliated. I’m saving up so that i can enroll and further my digital knowledge and skills and find job eventually, because entry level jobs here requires much skills…its so sad because i like to study there and i know the place, i once visited it so that i can have a sense of how much energy and travel time i must organize for myself when I’m finally studying there. i have a disability. i felt so much tampo that day, but I’m still saving money and enroll, but i stopped visiting your website.

  14. Maria says:

Also, if Toei or other animation companies are still looking for 2d artists…I’m not an animation student but I want to be an animator, although I’m not well-versed in 3d, can you please give me suggestions…

    Hello,

I am searching for an animator or animation team to bring an educational animation series to life for my nonprofit organization. The animation series will provide a pastoral curicula for the Maasai population in rural Kenya. It is going to be an amazing project and we are really searching for a team that wants to become part of the Indigenous Cultural Conservation Society family. We would like the series to be a mixture of both 2D and 3D animation. I had a team in the Philippines working on the animations last fall but they were not able to keep their deadlines so here I am. Below are some sample images of the styles I’d like to use.

If you are interested in animating the series I’d love to set up a Skype meeting this week. I will send you the story boards and scripts after your response.

      Hi,

I suggest that you use JobStreet to find animation companies. Honestly, I am not connected to any animation companies in the Philippines. I am just really fascinated about the idea of Philippine animation so I put up this blog. It makes me happy that this site is attracting so many aspiring animators and I wish you guys all the best.

      Thanks,

Since a child I’ve already been fascinated by cartoons, animes, special effects and 3d movies. Our encyclopedia’s animation article was even bookmarked by me when I was in Grade One. Art is my passion and becoming and animator is my dream. I’m starting college now and already have my picks on what course to take. I just want to know your ‘opinion’ on what’s the preferable course to take to pursue my dream. Truly, your opinion would help.

By the way, thanks po dito at may nakita akong malapit na animation studio sa amin(yay!). I’ll try to inquire sa class nila para maimprove yung skills ko. Thank you po again. 😀

  52. YUU says:

I have always loved anime, manga, and drawing since I was about grade 4. My hobby is to make my own stories though they are all unfinished and still have a long way to go before even dreaming of making moving characters. I don’t even have the slightest idea on how to start at anything. Animation is one of the courses that I planned to take but I somehow ended up taking a medicine course. Are there anyways to still pursue this dream even if i’m 2 years till graduating college and taking up medicine. I really need advice.

    • gilbertconcepcion says:

      Hi,

Yes of course, there are still ways to pursue your dream. Most of the things that we want to learn now is all online. You can make some self study if you want or take up multi-media courses.I think UP is offering a multi-media course as part of their open university program.

      Thanks,
      Gilbert

    Hi,
I am a AB Multimedia Arts Student of Asia Pacific College at Magallanes Village, Makati City, Philippines. I just want to know if there’s some studios here that accepts Internship programs. I’m focusing on 3D Animation, most specially in Rigging. I am using Blender software, but I can still catch up and practice a bit if there are studios that uses Autodesk Maya. I will be enrolling my internship on the 2nd term on our Tri-semester school of APC, somewhere in September 2014. If there would be studios or production house that accepts internship, please notify me, and let me know what will I do and what will I present to you for me to be able to practice my Rigging and Animation skills with you guys.

    Thank You so much!
    God blesses us All Artists!

I am a traditional artist, I only use pencil as a media and for now I am not knowledgeable in doing digital art although I wanted to. My course is not related to art and taking up another course is not an option either.
Do you think that there are companies who’s still willing to hire someone before training them to do digital arts? Or are there companies who’s hiring traditional artist?

Hi,Yes sure. But please give me more details about your project, eg. story line, how long would the animation be and production deadline? Plus, how much budget you have. That will be some of the important details animators will be asking before they agree with any projects. Please email glcblogger@gmail.com
